Especially interested in: It's your fic, I'm pretty open. Still, some of my faves are: fluff and angst (I love a mix of both), historical au, fusion fic, poetry (I love beta'ing poetry!), mythology. I have a special soft spot for femslash pairings.

Unwilling to address: self-insert, character/reader fics, RPF, incest ships (including characters raised as siblings who are not biologically related), dub/non-con, kink (I mean, a little kink in the background is probably fine, but if its the focus of the story I'm out), mentor/mentee ships (ie. Notes: I usually do beta'ing through Google Docs, though I'm open for other options. Turn around for a round of comments is usually a day or two. I'm down to do multiple rounds of comments if you make changes to the work and want me to look at the revisions or if you send it to me in parts. I am an experienced beta with a longstanding beta exchange partner. My strongest areas as a beta (IMO) are story coherency, description, and dialogue feedback; cheerleading; and helping non-natives speakers with idiomatic English. My grammar and punctuation are decent, but I'm not at professional copy editor level or anything. I have found that my style works best with those who are at least open to making broader edits to the story. This isn't because I'm going to try to browbeat you into making any changes you don't want, but just because that's the area where my feedback is strongest.
I selected culture picking in case anyone is writing fic set in Seattle, Portland or elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest and wants someone from the area to tell them if they're getting it right. I've also lived in France, so I know more about French culture than the average American. But I'm obviously nowhere near as qualified to French-pick as an actual French person.
I have never worked on translation before, but I would be happy to help someone translate a fic from French to English.
And as for specialist expertise, I don't know. I've worked in a coffee shop and at a library. I've participated in NW hipster culture and anarchist + activist scenes if that's somehow helpful to someone.
